Speaking of PSP stuff, I saw a BK post where he's all praises for the new oldTimer comp.

I am a big fan of Mastercomp though - to me, that is a compressor that is great on group busses (subtle or slammed to taste) and the master channel (subtle). Also can be useful on mix finalizing/mastering stems or 2 track stereo mix. Use with caution - but I do think it can bring out a heavy guitar sound and make it sweet in most instances. It has a character which is not always flattering. I actually think Vintage Warmer is one of the most misused tools around - people often just stick it across a drum buss, where it often would be better substituted by something more suitable such as a Fairchild or LA3A type plugin. Really, you'd be better off with even something like Bootsy's Density mk II freeware plug in. I think Vintage Warmer is a great compressor for guitar sounds, especially chunky overdriven rhythm guitar - but it's use on the Master Buss would have to be a special bespoke reason, it's definately not a typical master buss glueing type compressor - PSP Mastercomp excels at that if you like PSP Audio plugins.
